HDL is the vehicle for reversed cholesterol transport and estrification. HDL serves as a scavenger for free cholesterol during intravascular catabolism of lipoproteins. HDL levels are inversely correlated with coronary disease.||Density: |1.063-1.210g/ml ||Composition:|Lipid: 55-45%|Protein: 45-55%||Molecular Weight: |175-360kD||Storage and Stability: |May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Applications
Source: Human plasma|Purity: Purified by sequential flotation ultracentrifugation technique using KBr for density adjustments (≥95% by SDS-PAGE). Single arc by IEP against antisera to whole human serum. Essentially free of other plasma lipoproteins as determined by electrophoresis using Fat Red 7B staining for lipids and Coomassie Blue for proteins.|Concentration: ~10mg/ml|Form: Supplied as a liquid in 150mM sodium chloride, pH 7.4, 0.01% EDTA.||Important Note: This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological.
